Temperature dependence of near-field radiative heat transfer above room temperature

چکیده

Stefan-Boltzmann's law indicates that far-field blackbody radiation scales at the fourth power of temperature. The temperature dependence radiative heat transfer in near field is expected to be very different due contribution evanescent waves. In this work, we experimentally observe such deviation on thermal conductance by bringing a hot micrometric sphere nearfield room-temperature planar substrate, down separation distance few tens nanometers. influence materials assessed using either SiO2 or graphite spheres, and SiO2, InSb substrates. Temperature differences as large 900 K are imposed. A maximum near-field about 70 nW.K-1 found for graphite-graphite configuration. experimental results demonstrate exponent weakens field, ranging from 2.2 4.1, depending gap materials. These have broad consequences, particular design high-temperature nanoscale energy devices.

Freeze-drying above room temperature.

This study investigates the use of solid, organic compounds to lyophilize drugs without conventional freeze-drying equipment. The aim of the investigation is to find a pharmaceutically acceptable solvent or solvent combination that is appropriate for freeze-drying on the basis of its ability to (1) solubilize hydrophobic drugs, (2) provide a stable environment for water-sensitive compounds, (3)...

Temperature dependence of the zero point kinetic energy in ice and water above room temperature

By means of Deep Inelastic Neutron Scattering we determined the temperature dependence of the proton kinetic energy in polycrystalline ice Ih between 5 K and 271 K. We compare our results with predictions form Path Integral quantum simulations and semiclassical quasi-harmonic models with phasedependent frequencies. The latter show the best agreement with the experiment if the librational contri...

Temperature dependence of electric field noise above gold surfaces.

Electric field noise from fluctuating patch potentials is a significant problem for a broad range of precision experiments, including trapped ion quantum computation and single spin detection. Recent results demonstrated strong suppression of this noise by cryogenic cooling, suggesting an underlying thermal process. We present measurements characterizing the temperature and frequency dependence...

Identification of Temperature Dependent Parameters in Radiative Heat Transfer

Laser-induced thermotherapy (LITT) is an established minimally invasive percutaneous technique of tumor ablation. Nevertheless, there is a need to predict the effect of laser applications and optimizing irradiation planning in LITT. Optical attributes (absorption, scattering) change due to thermal denaturation. The work presents the possibility to identify these temperature dependent parameters...

Enhancing Near-Field Radiative Heat Transfer with Si-based Metasurfaces.

We demonstrate in this work that the use of metasurfaces provides a viable strategy to largely tune and enhance near-field radiative heat transfer between extended structures. In particular, using a rigorous coupled wave analysis, we predict that Si-based metasurfaces featuring two-dimensional periodic arrays of holes can exhibit a room-temperature near-field radiative heat conductance much lar...
